A new trailer has dropped for Back to Black, an upcoming biopic that follows the life of the late British singer, Amy Winehouse.
“Back to Black is a never-before-seen glimpse into Amy Winehouse’s early rise to fame and the release of her ground-breaking studio album, ‘Back to Black',” the description of the film reads. “Told from Amy’s perspective, the film is an unapologetic look at the woman behind the phenomenon and the relationship that inspired one of the most legendary albums of all time.”
Winehouse faced various obstacles in her career, not least personal struggles with mental health and addiction.
The trailer appears to focus on her musical talent, with allusions to her inner struggles. Here's everything we know about the film so far.
Back to Black release date
The film is due to come out on April 12 in the UK and on May 10 in the US, with the trailer released on January 11.
Director Sam Taylor-Johnson made her debut with 2009's Nowhere Boy and has since worked on a number of titles, including Fifty Shades of Gray.

Back to Black will star Marisa Abela as Winehouse opposite Jack O'Connell as Winehouse's ex-husband Blake FielderâCivil and Eddie Marsan as her father, Mitch Winehouse.

Released on January 11, the trailer airs with the soundtrack of the titular song, Back to Black.
“I don’t write music to be famous,” Abela as Winehouse says in the trailer as the title song rings out. “I write songs because I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t.”
