Rubbish has been left strewn over a Nottingham beauty spot, and bins were full, after revellers made the most of the recent bout of hot weather. The mini-heatwave continued on Thursday (March 24) and forecasters predicted highs of 18C, making the city hotter than Barcelona, where temperatures reaching 15C were forecast.
Mess was seen scattered across The Arboretum and The Forest Recreation Ground on Friday morning (March 25). And people in the area said it was the same situation every year once the weather gets better, with people flocking to beauty spots across the city to enjoy the sun. Empty lager crates, cans and empty bottles were left scattered across The Arboretum, off Waverley Street.
Care assistant Sarah Doch, 38, who jogs in The Arboretum every morning, said: "It's so bad, it is completely trashed. I can see that some students have tried to put things in the bins but they're overflowing.

"This happens every single year and the problem never gets resolved which is unfair for other people who want to use it. More action needs to be taken."
Anthony Braun, who walks his two dogs in The Arboretum most days, said he may have to find an alternative route in light of the situation. The 27-year-old from Hyson Green said: "I get that people want to enjoy the sun but this is really bad, and it'll only get worse when it's summer.
"I don't feel comfortable taking my dogs here because there could be smashed bottles or left over food that could harm them. It's very selfish of them but it doesn't surprise me, it happens all the time."
Mum-of-two Laura Miles, 35, who lives near the Forest Recreation Ground, decided to walk around The Arboretum instead on Friday morning (March 25). She said: "Forest recreation isn't as bad, there are overflowing bins but that can't be helped unless there are more. The big field area is pretty clear, unlike the Arboretum."
Sunshine and temperatures 'well above' the seasonal average are set to grace Nottinghamshire this weekend. According to the Met Office the sun will continue to shine throughout Friday, March 25 and until Sunday, March 27. From Sunday onwards, however, the city looks to be covered with darker, cloudy skies with highs of only 15C, dropping to 10C by the end of the month.
