A 'beautiful and caring' mum from London died unexpectedly on the morning of her wedding in Trinidad.
Nadia Joseph-Gosine, 33, passed away in her sleep of liver disease on December 7 leaving behind her 10-year-old son Emari, who is now stranded in the country.
Later that day the retail worker was due to marry Devon Gosine, her partner of five years who lives in Trinidad.
Speaking in the UK, her devastated sister Isha Daley, 37, said she knew Nadia had liver issues in the past but thought everything was now okay. Heartbroken Devon was also unaware Nadia was sick.
Emari is currently being cared for by Devon, who is not Emari's father, while her family in the UK try to raise the funds to bring him back, as well as money needed to cremate Nadia.
The pair did not have travel insurance.
Isha described her sibling as 'a mini rebel' who was 'very lively and feisty'.
"She was a very entertaining person," she told MyLondon. "She just wanted to be happy. A little fire cracker. She was very beautiful. Absolutely stunning. And she loved life, loved to travel."
Devon, meanwhile, said his fiancé was "the most loving, caring, and genuine person" and the love of his life. Fighting back tears on the phone from Trinidad, he said: "She would go all out for you and she was the most hard-working. She was always happy. Whatever she was going through she was always happy. She was the love of my life. She was always the best part of my life."
He added: "I can’t stop being reminded of what happened. Seeing everything and still I’m in disbelief. After all that time we were finally getting married. We were preparing for the rest of our life and all of a sudden it gets taken away. It was the toughest thing."
Nadia, who lived in Beckton in east London, had spent a few weeks in Trinidad with Devon and her son before the tragedy happened.
On the night before what was supposed to be their wedding day, Devon says he and Nadia were up late talking. Some friends had called and wished them all the best for the following day. Devon said Nadia was struggling to sleep, but he thought she was just anxious about the big day.
He says he cuddled her and she fell asleep but when he happened to wake up at around 2am he kissed her on her cheeks - how he would normally wake her up - but she didn't respond. He realised she was unresponsive and knew something was wrong. Paramedics spent 45 minutes trying to resuscitate her but without success.
"It just happened all of a sudden," said Devon. "At least she didn’t have to suffer."
Isha has been told Nadia's liver was so damaged she would have died two weeks later even if she had got medical help. There was nothing doctors could have done earlier, she was told.
Isha doesn't know where Emari's father is and is prepared to look after Emari once he returns to London. She has a 16-year-old daughter who is close to Emari. However they're currently trying to get together the money to cover his flight, which will cost about £900.
Isha, who works for the NHS, said she doesn't think Emari has processed his mum's death yet, but "he does know she is no longer here and everyone keeps him distracted".
Isha also needs to find the money to have Nadia cremated in Trinidad - which she says costs 13,000 Trinidad dollars or around £1,500 - so is fundraising to meet the costs. She says her sister had cancelled her life insurance just three months before her death and she and her son didn't have travel insurance.
Isha says she is still in 'hopeful denial' and it won't be until Nadia is back home that she will fully come to terms with her loss.
