Mount Ulla, North Carolina, recently experienced a tragic incident where two mules and a horse, known for their heroic efforts in delivering supplies to victims of Hurricane Helene, were hit and killed. The animals, named Vader, Kev, and Amigo, were struck on a road after a tree fell on a fence, allowing them to escape their pasture.

The Mountain Mule Packer Ranch, where the animals were based, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, acknowledging the impact these faithful equines had on the community. These mules had been instrumental in delivering essential supplies like food, water, and building materials to areas affected by the hurricane, covering a vast region from western North Carolina to eastern Tennessee.

The ranch's primary mission is to provide mule training and packing instruction for various groups, including civilian and military teams. These animals are trained to carry gear and resources for different purposes in remote environments, showcasing their versatility and importance in disaster relief efforts.

Hurricane Helene, a devastating Category 4 storm, caused widespread destruction along a 500-mile path from Florida to North Carolina, resulting in significant damage and loss of life. In response to the disaster, the Mountain Mule Packer Ranch established Mission Mules, a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to continuing hurricane relief efforts.

Despite the heartbreaking loss of the three beloved animals, the ranch remains committed to its mission of providing aid to those affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The community has been deeply touched by the mules' work, which not only delivered supplies but also brought hope and comfort to those feeling forgotten in the wake of the disaster.

As the organization prepares for future distribution events to assist those still impacted by the hurricane, the spirit of resilience and determination displayed by the mules serves as a source of inspiration for all involved. The legacy of Vader, Kev, and Amigo lives on through the continued efforts of the Mountain Mule Packer Ranch and Mission Mules in supporting communities in need.
