Tragedy in East Ayrshire village as woman dies after falling ill

A woman has tragically died after taking ill in an East Ayrshire village.

Emergency crews, including an air ambulance, raced to Catrine earlier this afternoon after reports of a woman falling unwell in the Riverside Crescent area.

Sadly, the woman, understood to be 50 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is being treated as a medical matter.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Ayrshire Live: “Around 12.20pm on Wednesday, November 30, police were made aware of helimed attending the Riverside Crescent area of Catrine following a report of a woman taking unwell.

"Officers attended and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is being treated as a medical matter.”
