Tragedy as woman in her 50s on mobility scooter dies following crash with car

A woman on a mobility scooter has died following a car crash as police urge anyone with information to come forward.

The victim - aged in her 50s - died at the scene following the incident in Bosworth Drive, Chelmsley Wood, Solihull following a crash with a car on Saturday.

In a statement, police said: "We’re investigating after a woman on a mobility scooter died in a collision involving a car in Chelmsley Wood this afternoon.

Police have said that the driver of the vehicle is now helping with their investigation (Birmingham Mail WS)

"We were called to Bosworth Drive just after 1pm. The woman, in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family is being supported by officers.

"The driver of the car, a woman in her 60s, has been spoken to by officers and is helping with our investigation."

A passer-by told Birmingham Live : "There were lots of police in attendance and they taped off the road."

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police via live chat, quoting log 1827 of 1 October.
