Tragedy as woman dies in early morning Kilmarnock house fire

A woman has died in an Ayrshire house fire.

The 62-year-old was pronounced dead by emergency services in Kilmarnock on Monday after a property burst into flames in the early hours of the morning.

Two men were assessed by paramedics at the scene on Blacksyke Avenue in Shortlees.

Police have confirmed that there doesn't appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the blaze.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 2.20am on Monday, October 3, 2022 to a report of a fire at a property in Blacksyke Avenue, Kilmarnock.

"Emergency services attended and a 62-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Two men, aged 36 and 67, were checked over by paramedics at the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the fire but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
