A woman has died after being hit by a police car on Christmas Eve.
Emergency services were scrambled to Sheil Road in Kensington, Merseyside, at around 8.10pm on Saturday to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a police car.
A woman in her 20s has been confirmed as deceased. The woman’s next of kin have been informed and her family are being supported by specially trained officers, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Formal identification has not yet been made. Road closures were in place while emergency services attended the incident. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) have been informed and have attended the scene.
People at the scene speaking to the Echo on Christmas Eve said they saw "a load of police" but did not know what happened. One eyewitness said they saw a woman being hit by a car.

One person said: "It's horrific. It's Christmas Eve. Whatever it is is looks bad. It's heartbreaking."
Merseyside police said they are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.
