Tragedy as police confirm body pulled from Yorkshire river is Leeds man Mohammed Shaho Saminpoor

A missing Leeds man who has not been seen since before Christmas has tragically been found dead, police have confirmed.

Mohammed Shaho Saminpoor, 35 and from Burmantofts, was last seen on December 12 outside Ferriby Towers, Lincoln Green. West Yorkshire Police have been searching for him ever since.

They have made multiple appeals over the last few months to try and locate him.

However, he has now sadly been found dead in the River Aire. West Yorkshire Police said: "The body of a man found in a river in North Yorkshire has now been confirmed as being Mohammed Shaho Saminpoor from Leeds who had been reported missing.

"Mr Saminpoor, aged 35, from Burmantofts, was reported missing on December 12 last year and had been the subject of public appeals for information. His body was recovered from the River Aire at Kellingley on Wednesday, February 22, and his identity was subsequently confirmed.

"There were no suspicious circumstances, and the North Yorkshire Coroner’s Office has been informed."
