Tragedy as man dies while out for morning cycle in Cumnock

A man has tragically died after falling ill while out on a morning cycle in East Ayrshire.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the 57-year-old's death in Cumnock on Sunday.

Mercy crews raced to the scene on Rigg Road around 11.10am having been alerted to the man's plight after he became unwell on his bike.

Sadly, the cyclist was pronounced dead a short time later.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 11.10am on Sunday, January 30, police received a report of a 57-year-old man who had taken unwell whilst cycling on Rigg Road, Cumnock.

"Emergency services attended. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead a short time later. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
