Tragedy as Leeds pianist Rowan Lewis dies aged 24 as tributes flood in for musical 'genius'

Tributes have been paid to “ hugely talented” Leeds man Rowan Lewis whose death has shaken the community.

Rowan Lewis, a well-known self-taught classical pianist, died earlier this week, with tributes flooding in across social media for the 24-year-old.

The news of his death was posted on his professional music page and it reads: “RIP Rowan. An unbelievable talent. A genius.”

Hundreds of people have shared tributes across social media platforms writing “he will be missed.”

Underneath the post, one person said: “A One Of A Kind Man! Really had so much passion and love to give in such a nasty world. RIEP KING.”

A second said: “Now your mind is at peace. No more torment Fly high with the rest taken too soon. Condolences to all family.”

A third person said: “Rest in peace pal can’t believe it it’s such a shock and he had so much talent on the piano.”

The Geraldine Connor Foundation said: “GCF is deeply saddened by the news of the death of Rowan Lewis. A hugely talented young man and pianist. He and his wonderful playing will be sadly missed. We send our condolences to his family and friends at this sad time.”

A vigil for Rowan is set to be held later this evening in Chapeltown to remember him.
