Traffic chaos near Manchester Airport after A555 tanker crash sees two cut free

Traffic around Manchester Airport was reportedly in chaos this afternoon following a tanker crash. Photos from the scene show a tanker lorry colliding with a car on the A555.

The collision on the westbound side of the A555 Ringway Road happened just after 12pm, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said. Traffic was able to get through in the incident, but caused tailbacks, Transport for Greater Manchester added.

Now, it has been confirmed that two people were cut free from the vehicles. Two fire crews were involved in the rescue effort.
