Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young has joked that he'll be talking with LeBron James next off-season after Bronny James was projected to be drafted by Young's current franchise.
James' eldest son is set to play for USC next season after graduating from high school, where he is being ranked as one of the best players to join this year's collegiate intake.
Although still one year away, James Jr is being seen as a first-round talent, with ESPN releasing a mock draft that has him joining the Hawks with the 17th overall pick.
James Sr is set to become a free agent that off-season, and has made his intentions clear that he'd like to play with his son - and joked that he'll join the Hawks if they draft James Jr.
James shared the ESPN article to his Instagram story, and wrote: "Welllll ATL shawty the #JamesGang will be pulling up!"
And in response to that, Hawks' star point guard Young tweeted: "Talk soon," indicating that he'd love to see the legendary forward join the team next summer.
A team in transition, the Hawks will likely have a high draft pick next off-season, after trading away starting big man John Collins.
They'll be looking to build their roster around Young, and drafting Bronny could go a long way to improving the team - while also bringing along his superstar father.
A defensive-minded guard, Bronny James is the type of playerYoung will hope to play alongside, with his score-first, defensive deficiencies.
James has impressed scouts this year and has risen up mock drafts, especially after his McDonald's High-School All-Star game in March - scoring 15 points and four assists, all of his points coming from beyond the three-point arc.
And James Sr is likely to opt out of his deal in 2024, potentially looking to join whatever team drafts his eldest son. On playing with James Jr in 2024, he said: "I was serious. And I'm still serious about it.
"Obviously, I've got to continue to keep my body and my mind fresh, I think my mind most importantly. But at the end of the day, I've done what I had to do in this league, and my son is going to take his journey."
In 2021, the Hawks signed Young a to a huge five-year, $207 million deal. While he has impressed, the team has had very little success, in need of making huge additions to their roster.
