Traditional Church Street Christmas tree arrives ahead of Liverpool light switch on

The Christmas countdown has begun as the traditional Church Street tree has arrived.

Liverpool is already getting into the festive spirit as this weekend marked the return of the Christmas markets. Dozens of festive cabins are once again situated on St George’s Hall plateau and along William Brown Street as dozens tucked into toasted marshmallows, mulled wine and hot chocolates on Saturday.

Liverpool ONE has also recently unveiled its new tree during a spectacular launch night party. The tree is located at the centre of the new Liverpool Alpine Village and stands at 18 metres above sea level - making it one of the tallest artificial trees in the UK.

But today, Sunday, November 20, Liverpool City Council shared a sneak peak into the Christmas tree that will be situated on Church Street in the city centre. Captioning the post: "Hello! Just arrived in town.... #ChristmasCountdown", undoubtedly excitement is building.

The photo shows the traditional tree arriving in the city centre, ready for the light switch on, which is expected to be later this week. The lights are expected to be on from November 24, but the ECHO understands there will be no official switch on event.
