Trading up among Broncos’ options on Day 2 of the NFL draft

The Denver Broncos will have several options on Day 2 of the 2023 NFL draft on Friday evening.

The first and simplest option is to stay put and make their picks at Nos. 67 and 68 overall in the third round. The third round has been a sweet spot in the draft for Broncos general manager George Paton, so standing pat and landing two quality players might be the preferred option, but it’s not the only option.

Another possibility would be trading up into the second round. Having a pair of third-round picks would make a trade easier to pull off and while Denver has insisted Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton aren’t on the trade block, those wide receivers could also help the feasibility of trading up on Day 2.

If a prospect the Broncos like begins to fall, moving up the board has to be considered. One prospect that Broncos Wire likes as a potential trade-up target is Kansas State cornerback Julius Brents.

Before the draft, Paton mentioned that trading down is easier than trading up, especially because Denver only has five picks this year. Moving down the board to acquire more picks is a third option, and it’s a realistic one. The Broncos could, for example, use one third-round pick and trade the other to acquire additional draft capital.

Everything is in play for Denver entering Day 2 of the draft. Now we wait for the fun to begin at 5:00 p.m. MT on NFL Network, ESPN and ABC.
