Trade unions, industrial workers showing ‘militant’ behaviour: Employers’ Association

In a letter addressed to the State Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, the Karnataka Employers’ Association (KEA) said that trade unions and industrial workers in Karnataka have been showing `militant’ behaviour these days and if such a trait is allowed to continue it could destroy the State’s peaceful and investment-friendly environment, cautioned

Citing examples of recent attacks by disgruntled or sacked employees on company officials/HR manager, the Association has requested the Chief Minister to intervene in the matter and instruct all government agencies to ensure industrial peace in the State.

“The police also should take effective measures for curbing the violence in and around the Industrial Establishments and take action against the culprits. The inaction on the part of the police has resulted in several instances of violence and injury to the personnel and in some instances, properties of the company have been damaged,’‘ said KEA president, B.C. Prabhakar in the letter.

The Labour Department also should be proactive in its approach, the Association has insisted.
