Tracking the Detroit Lions 2023 NFL draft slots after Week 17

The Week 17 action created a little movement with the Detroit Lions selection slots in the 2023 NFL draft.

The Lions hammered the Chicago Bears, 41-10, and improved to 8-8 overall. That leaves the Lions with the No. 17 pick in the first round. Detroit is tied with Green Bay and Seattle with the same record, but the Lions earn the highest pick of that group based on strength of schedule. Those spots will change once the Lions play the Packers in Week 18, of course.

The Los Angeles Rams fell on the road to their stadium mates, the Chargers, by a 31-10 count. The Rams’ pick that the Lions acquired in the Matthew Stafford/Jared Goff trade is now No. 6 overall. Curiously, the Rams are the only 5-11 team in the league. Los Angeles plays Seattle in Week 18.

In the second round, the Lions’ own pick is No. 48 overall after the win. The Vikings pick bumped up to No. 60 after Minnesota got walloped by the Packers on Sunday. That pick was acquired by Detroit for T.J. Hockenson, who had two dropped passes for Minnesota in the loss.

Monday night’s game between Cincinnati and Buffalo doesn’t impact the first-round slotting, so what we see on Monday morning is how the Lions and their four picks in the first two rounds will stand entering the final week.
