The Bridgestone Battlax Trackday 2023 held at Chang International Circuit last weekend was conceived as a fresh event for Thai media, influencers and professional racers.
Up to 350 people attended the event and for the first time, participants were able to test six different Bridgestone tyres on a variety of motorcycles, with exclusive assistance from factory racing team trainers. This was the largest test riding event for a tyre firm, spanning over three days in Buri Ram province.
Six instructors and one race engineer were present to provide personal advice on riding technique and set-up methods for participants to perform at their best on the track.
They included Ratthapark Wilairot, former Supersport 600cc WSBK2015 Thailand Round Champion; Decha Kraisart, All Japan and Road Racing Asia champion and podium finisher; Anucha Nakcharoensri, multiple Thailand Superbike Champion; Jakkrit Sawangswat, Chanon Chumjai, Puttinut Sinsap and race engineer Pakorn Rojrungthawee.
There were up to 40 different motorcycles arranged for both road and race compound tyres fitted to bikes from Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, BMW, Aprilia, Royal Enfield and Harley-Davidson.
"Organising this event was another important step for the motorcycle industry," said Danaisiri Chanvittayarom, managing director of distributor Pacemax Motorsport. "There are Bridgestone tyres to test in every segment along with more than 40 popular motorcycles, and this is considered the biggest motorcycle tyre test event in Thailand," he added.
"The tyres are tested on a world-class track with the highest safety standards, and this will help the testers fully know and reach the true performance of tyres and motorcycles."
There were eight sessions with different tyres and models for the testers, who rode at full throttle to test the performance in terms of road grip, braking distance and cornering.
