Following Katy Perry’s recent and controversial trip into space, Metro Station frontman — and brother to singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus — Trace Cyrus claimed that Perry allegedly copied his sister’s career, calling her actions “lame” in an Instagram Reel.
“I first knew Katy Perry and her team were lame as fuck when her career was first dying,” Trace stated in the video.
“And they were like, ‘Hm, what can we do? Well, what worked for Miley? She cut her hair off and it broke the internet and everyone freaked out and she bleached it blonde. We should do that with you, Katy!’”
Oof…this has not been a good week for Ms. Perry.

Miley first debuted her now-iconic blonde pixie cut back in 2012, influencing a legion of young girls (like myself) to take the plunge and embrace the short hair lifestyle in the years since.
Perry later revealed her own take on the blonde pixie cut years later in 2017.
Trace also claimed that Perry copied Miley’s shift from pop to hip-hop in her music, using Perry’s 2017 collaboration with hip-hop trio Migos in the song “Bon appétit” as a reference.
Miley first began experimenting with a hip-hop sound when she worked with producer Mike WiLL Made-It and rappers Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J on her 2013 album, Bangerz.
“Remember ‘J’s On My Feet’?” Trace said, mimicking a member of Perry’s creative team.
“‘She started the transition to do more hip-hop stuff, we’re gonna get you with the hottest group, Migos! You’re going to do the exact same thing Miley did and blow up’.
“Guess what, it didn’t fucking work. And then they tried some EDM song or some shit, because EDM’s hot. Didn’t fucking work.”

Trace also touched on Perry’s recent stint into space via Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocketship on April 14.
“Now they’re taking your ass to space,” Trace said.
“Didn’t fucking work! It’s not working, it’s backfiring. Stop!”
Both Miley and Perry have not responded to Trace’s video.
Perry’s infamous 11-minute trip to space was highly criticised by folks across the globe, with individuals like Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Munn, Lily Allen, Olivia Wilde and more offering scathing takes on the ordeal.
“That space mission this morning? That’s end-time shit. Like, this is beyond parody,” Ratajkowski said in a TikTok earlier this week.
“Saying that you care about Mother Earth and it’s about Mother Earth, and you’re going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that’s single-handedly destroying the planet?”
Following the heavy backlash, a source close to Perry revealed that she reportedly “regrets” the public spectacle.
“Katy doesn’t regret going to space. It was life changing,” an insider told Daily Mail UK.
“What she does regret is making a public spectacle out of it.”
