Toyota Kirloskar Motors launched a new edition of its popular MPV called the Innova Touring Sport on Thursday priced from Rs 17.79 lakh to Rs 22.15 lakh.
The new edition comes in manual and automatic transmission versions of both petrol and diesel engines.
Launched in two colours-- Wildfire and White Pearl Crystal Shine, the new Innova Touring Sport remains largely the same as the standard Chrysta model, which was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo last year, and launched in April 2016 at Rs 13.73 lakh.
The Touring Sport is more ornamented with Chrome than its Chrysta twin. From front grille, to wheel arches and door handles, chrome makes the Touring Sport look lustrous and premium.
The Innova Touring Sport is powered by a 2,694cc Duat VVT petrol engine mated to either a five-speed or a six-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift. Maximum power of 166PS @ 5200 rpm and 245 Nm top torque @ 4000 rpm.
Alternatively, a 2,393cc common rail diesel engine generates 150PS power, 343 Nm torque when connected to a five speed manual gearbox, and 174PS power and 360 Nm torque when a 2,755cc diesel engine is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift.
On the inside, the car gets premium finish interiors in shades of red. There’s leather wrap with sporty red stitch, black wood finish and red illumination among other features.
The automatic variants get all the safety features like 7 SRS airbags, antilock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution and braking assistance, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist control, back monitor and sonar. The manual variants miss out on vehicle stability control and hill-start assist control, while the number of airbags is also limited to three -- for driver, front passenger and driver’s knee.

Innova was the first in the luxury touring family vehicle league, which replaced the Qualis in the Toyota portfolio. The model, along with its mighty brother Fortuner, has kept the numbers ticking for Toyota Kirloskar Motors India, which has otherwise not held much ground in the passenger vehicles segment. Innova did a little over 79,000 units in the April 2016 - March 2017 fiscal, a 43% growth over the FY 2016, while around 13,400 Fortuners were sold in the last fiscal.
Its two passenger cars -- Etios sedan and Liva hatchback -- have largely been sold to the fleet operators and cab drivers. The premium sedans Corolla Altis and Camry hybrid have seen good sales for the automaker in the luxury sedan segment.
