Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition introduced as dealer-level upgrade

Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition introduced as dealer-level upgrade

New Delhi: Toyota has launched a new version of its rugged seven-seat SUV, called the Fortuner Leader Edition. This version is based on the diesel 4x2 variants, and adds a few features and some exterior changes. At the sidelines of the launch, the Japanese brand also said it has sold over 2.5 lakh Fortuners in India since its launch in 2009.

1.    Fortuner Leader Edition available in diesel-MT and diesel-AT forms
2.    Adds TPMS, auto-folding mirrors, and wireless charger
3.    Gets three dual-tone exterior options and new black alloy wheels

Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition: price, features
Toyota has not revealed an official price saying that Fortuner Leader Edition prices will be rolled out at the dealership according to the “accessories fitted for the specific requirement”. Expect prices for the Leader Edition to be slightly higher than the standard Fortuner 4x2’s Rs 35.93 lakh-38.21 lakh price tag.

For the premium, buyers will get dual-tone seat covers, a tyre pressure monitor, auto-folding ORVMs, and a wireless charger. On the outside, the Fortuner Leader Edition features new black alloy wheels, and there are three dual-tone colour options to choose from – Super white, Platinum Pearl white and Silver Metallic, all with contrasting black bits. What should make the Leader Edition stand out even more are the new front and rear bumper ‘spoilers’, which Toyota says is part of its official list of accessories and is installed by the dealer.

Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition: powertrain
As mentioned above, the Fortuner Leader Edition is only available in 4x2 form with the 204hp, 2.8-litre diesel engine that makes 500Nm when paired to the 6-speed auto, and 420Nm when mated to the manual gearbox.

Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition: rivals
The Fortuner continues to take on the likes of the MG Gloster, and will soon see the return of an old rival, the Ford Endeavour, which is likely to be named the Everest this time around.
