Toyosi Olusanya St Mirren UEFA Conference League suspension state of play

Stephen Robinson is hopeful St Mirren will have Toyosi Olusanya for the second leg against SK Brann after fears over a UEFA suspension.

The goalscoring striker had been cautioned in the 1-1 draw in Paisley on Thursday night prompting Robinson to state he would be ruled out of the trip to Bergen next week.

However, in a major boost for St Mirren, it's thought Olusanya will be free to feature with UEFA rules stating players are only suspended after three bookings in qualifying rounds.

Olusanya was booked in the away match against Valur Reykjavik and then against SK Brann in Paisley - taking his disciplinary record to just two yellow cards. St Mirren have asked for clarification from UEFA to avoid any further misunderstanding on the situation.

“We don’t think so," said a relieved Robinson when asked for clarification on whether Olusanay would miss next week. "I made a mistake with that. I thought it was two bookings.

“If you’re ever going to make a mistake, that’s a good one to make!

“We’re just getting clarification from UEFA that he will be okay. But hopefully, I did make that mistake.

“It will be a relief if he is free to play. We were actually sitting watching the monitor [when the incident with the goalkeeper happened] and he shouldn’t have been booked.

“The keeper ran into him. We were watching that at the time believing that a second yellow card could possibly see him suspended."
