A Toxteth-based musician is making waves in the industry and believes the city's music scene is progressing to a "new era".
Liverpool singer and songwriter Kieran Molyneux, known professionally as Kieo, self-recorded his debut single Tearaway and released it last summer. The single "went beyond expectations" and since then, has seen the 29-year-old playing major shows and recording two new songs - the first of which, Happy To Lose My Mind, will be released in March.
The lifelong Liverpool fan believes the city's music scene is "flourishing in all areas" and embarking on a "new era" not seen since the 1960s.

Speaking to the ECHO, the musician explained how his support for Liverpool FC led to connections that have seen him playing shows all over the world.
Kieo said: "I've been playing and writing music for years, but in terms of releasing music and putting songs out there, I’ve been an original artist for about a year. I self released my debut single Tearaway last August, then this year I’ve recorded two songs now and one of them will be out in March.
"The release of my single last year went beyond expectations, since then I've played the headline show, recorded two new songs, the first of which will be released in March."
Kieo has recently announced new shows in Oslo and Reykjavik with BOSS Night, where he'll be supporting fellow Liverpool artist, and his friend, Jamie Webster.
BOSS kicked off in 2007, as a Liverpool FC fanzine called BOSS Mag. In 2011, its founders put on a gig for their friends in keeping with the magazine, named BOSS Night. Since then, it's grown and grown with events in Liverpool and around the world.
With Jamie Webster, Kieran 'Kieo' Molyneux, Ben Burke, Timo Tierney and often special guests like John Power, Peter Hooton, Ian Prowse and Jamie Carragher, the events have continued to grow in popularity and star power.
Kieo continued: "I've been involved in LFC fan night Boss Night for a few years, we were events that took place after Liverpool games and we've played shows in Qatar, Germany, all over. We've been lucky it's taken us all over the world. The events capture that match day culture.
"I'm a big Red and I got in touch with an agency and was able to represent Liverpool and model their clothes, this club I’ve supported for years, which was incredible. I was invited back for a second campaign which is out now.
"Representing LFC was a proud moment after following the club for so many years, [and being] featured in the match day programme. [I was proud when] Tearaway was played at Anfield."
Of supporting Jamie Webster, Kieo said: "I've been a mate of Jamie's for years, we’ve shared rehearsal rooms, we’re good mates. I’m made up to see his success, I know he works really hard, I’ve seen it first hand."
The musician is hosting a string of Beatles events. He said: "As an artist, we all have influences and I've been a massive Beatles fan all my life. I wanted to create this as it's something that probably should already exist in our city.
"With so many Beatles fans both living here and visiting here every week, I’d love to create something which can celebrate the music and albums they released and combine that with fun, laughter and something every one loves - a Beatles singalong.
"The evening will come in three parts. Every week will start with a different album listening party, followed by The Beatles Quiz consisting of four rounds, before the night moves into the hands of the audience for The Beatles karaoke. I’ll be presenting the evening and the aim for me is to bring people together for a night of music, laughs and singing the Beatles.
"There will be a different album to listen to each week. We’re launching the event with The Red Album which covers the Beatles hits in their early years from 1962 until 1966. The next event will then be The Beatles debut album Please Please Me, followed chronologically by With The Beatles, A Hard Days Night etc. The selected album will be played on vinyl and start the night off around 7pm."
The event starts this Sunday, February 6. The first event will take place in The Angus Tap and Grind on Dale Street in the city centre. Kieo dubbed it "a great bar who have given me the opportunity to create something good for the people in this city every Sunday".
Kieo is looking forward to thriving in the music industry and has lofty ambitions of taking his music around the world.
He added: "I'm planning to do another headline show this year before Sound City. I want to tour the world with my music and get my music out there to as many people as possible; being on tour, living on tour, that sort of thing.
"I think the music scene here [in Liverpool] is thriving. I don't think Liverpool's had this strong of a music scene since that famous time in the 60s, it's like a new era and we're flourishing in all areas - we've got rappers making serious moves, we've got bands touring the world. It's exciting to be part of that era of Scouse music that's making a name for itself."
