Tourist warns holidaymakers of fines for sleeping and drinking on Benidorm beaches

Benidorm has been and will always be a favourite Spanish tourist trap among British holidaymakers thanks to its bright beaches and cheap pints. But certain rules can make your cheap and cheerful summer holiday much more expensive, with local authorities dishing out fines of up to £1,000.

One local resident of Benidorm, Frank, claims that there are countless behaviours which could land you in hot water - from simply enjoying one too many drinks in the sun, to reserving a spot on the countless golden beaches. Taking to his TikTok account, @frankthestagman, Frank recently listed off a whole host of things to avoid doing while on holiday.

He even detailed the prices you'll pay for breaking the rules - citing £1,000 fines for camping or sleeping on the beach.

The Star reports he also noted how using a parasol or any other item to reserve a place can land you with a £730 fine, while visiting the sand between midnight and 7.00am could see you stripped as much as £650.

The TikTok influencer also noted that using soap or shampoo at public beach showers could see you penalised £558, while drinking on the sand carries a fine of £650. In that case, you're probably best off leaving the bubbles for the bars.

And while it seems like decent family fun, building a sandcastle in Benidorm could set you back £130. But Benidorm isn't the only place to have such rules which are aimed at targeting unruly tourists.

Beaches in Majorca and Ibiza meanwhile have banned smoking altogether – covering 28 locations. Meanwhile a six drink limit is in place across resorts like Ibiza, Palma and more.

Swimwear is fine to sport on the beach or at the poolside, but wearing a bikini or speedos to the shops could see you slapped with a fine. Barcelona and Majorca have rules prohibiting topless men and women wearing bikinis, with fines up to £253 if spotted walking around certain hotspots.

Boozing is also banned on the streets of Barcelona and Madrid, with fines up to £507 for those caught breaking the rules. Furthermore, in parts of Majorca and Ibiza, there are new bans on party boat cruises, all you can drink bar crawls and other enticing drink offers.

These are in play across the likes of Magaluf, El Arenal, Playa de Palma in Majorca and Sant Antoni in Ibiza.
