Tourist died after no one noticed he'd been knocked out going down water slide at hotel

A tourist died when no one noticed he had been knocked out after hitting his head while going down a slide at a five-star hotel.

Prosecutors are investigating Ali Cilga's death, which occurred following the accident at the five-star hotel in Manavgat, Antalya Province, southwestern Turkey.

The 65-year-old was at the hotel with his family on a long-awaited holiday.

CCTV footage shows the holidaymaker going down headfirst on the luxury resort's long slide. He stays underwater after hitting his head on the pool's concrete floor.

Several swimmers pass by oblivious before two tourists eventually notice him around a minute after he went down the slide.

Another man - presumably the hotel's on-duty lifeguard - can be seen approaching quickly after jumping into the water. They lay Ali down next to the pool before starting their resuscitation attempts.

The Turkish man - whose hometown has not been revealed by the authorities - was taken to a hospital after the tragedy on June 26 He died one week after the accident on July 3. Local media report that Ali was warned by the pool lifeguard not to slide down headfirst.

The Manavgat Public Prosecution ordered an autopsy of Ali's body at the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute. The investigation continues.

It comes after a 20-year-old tourist found dead in a swimming pool at a club on a Greek island died when a burst blood vessel flooded his lungs with blood.

The incident took place in Laganas on the island of Zakynthos, where the young man was on holiday with pals, around 10pm on 2nd July.

After spotting him motionless in the pool, the owner of the club, who is also a lifeguard, immediately jumped in and gave him CPR. However, he failed to regain consciousness.
