Tour operator apologises for 'inconvenience' after Paris flights cancelled

The tour operator which cancelled two flights leaving more than 100 Liverpool FC fans stranded in Liverpool today apologised for the "inconvenience".

WorldChoice Sports issued a public apology on its social media pages after cancelling two flights from Liverpool John Lennon Airport this morning. Many fans travelling to Paris for LFC's Champions League final v Real Madrid were left angry and disappointed as their flights were cancelled.

An airport spokesperson told the ECHO two WorldChoice Sports' flights were cancelled and one was replaced. The tour operator also managed to get a "majority" of people onto other flights.

But 129 people, many of them with tickets to the match, were unable to board a flight and had to go home. One fan told the ECHO it "wasn't on" and feared there would be "empty seats" at the stadium.

WorldChoice Sports has now apologised for the "inconvenience". The tour operator previously attracted criticism in 2018 after blaming the lack of airport landing spots for the cancellation of three flights to Kyiv.

WorldChoice Sports, based in Widnes, said the Paris flights were cancelled after it was "very badly let down by the broker and the airline". The company promised it would be refunding people in the coming days.

A spokesperson for WorldChoice Sports said: "If your flight has been cancelled, please accept our apologies. Fortunately, this only affected a small number of passengers.

"This was due to matters beyond our control. Rest assured that we will be refunding you in full during the next coming days. We were very badly let down by the broker and the airline. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused."
