Tottenham welcome Roma in the Europa League and you can find our prediction, the team news and predicted lineups ahead of Thursday evening’s match down below.
Tottenham vs Roma Preview
Ange Postecoglou’s side are coming off a huge Premier League victory after beating Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad on Saturday evening.
However, their last result in Europe was less impressive as Spurs lost 3-2 to Galatasaray, as 19-year-old Will Lankshear received red card – despite scoring his first senior goal.
The Lilywhites currently sit seventh in the new Europa League table format, after accumulating nine points from the opening four matches and our favourites to win the competition on UK betting sites.
As for their Italian opponents, form in Europe has been a struggle for Roma after picking up five points from their opening four encounters.
The Serie A side were held to a 1-1 draw by Union SG last time out and have failed to win in their last four matches (all competitions).
Most recently, Claudio Ranieri’s side were beaten 1-0 by Napoli as their former talisman, Romelu Lukaku, scored the winner for the home side.
Tottenham vs Roma Team News
Spurs were hit with a huge blow at the beginning of the week, as Guglielmo Vicario was forced to have surgery on a broken ankle and the Italian could be out for the rest of this season.
To add to Spurs’ defensive concerns, Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero are set to miss this European tie as the duo recover from injury.
As previously mentioned, Lankshear will miss the match through suspension and another youngster, Mikey Moore, will miss the match with a virus.
Rodrigo Bentancur should feature in all European matches, as his seven-match ban does not impact the Europa League.
Will Lankshear and Mikey Moore have been handed opportunities in Europe so far, but neither will feature, with Lankshear suspended following his red card against Galatasaray and Moore currently wiped out with a virus.
As for Roma, Paulo Dybala returned to the bench in the 1-0 defeat to Napoli and could start in north London on Thursday evening.
Mario Hermoso and Alexis Saelemaekers could feature but Eldor Shomurodov will definitely miss out with a muscular injury.

Tottenham vs Roma Prediction
After Spurs’ emphatic 4-0 win over Manchester City on Saturday, we expect the Lilywhites to be full of confidence against a deflated Roma side.
The absence of Vicario could cause some issues and Spurs’ defensive issues may hand Roma some chances, but we expect Spurs to win by at least two goals.
Prediction: Tottenham 3-1 Roma
