Watch Tottenham Vs Roma highlights as Claudio Ranieri’s Roma grabbed a late equaliser to peg back Spurs in the Europa League on Thursday.
Veteran centre-back Mats Hummels was heavily involved at both ends for the visitors, giving away an early penalty before grabbing the equaliser in stoppage time.
The 35-year-old German was playing his first match in Europe since losing the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund last season.
But his first involvement was a poor one. Spurs midfielder Pape Matar Sarr beat Hummels to a loose ball, who brought him down in the area to give the hosts a penalty.
Son Heung-Min converted from the spot to give Tottenham the lead, but it didn’t last long.
Roma defender Evan N’Dicka equalised on 20 minutes, before Brennan Johnson restored Tottenham’s advantage 13 minutes later.
Spurs should have been out of sight by halftime. Johnson had an effort cleared off the line, while Son blasted one over the bar after Kulusevski hit the post.
Roma had their own chances, though. Stephen El Shaarawy’s volley was ruled out for offside, before Artem Dovbyk and Manu Kone were also flagged after putting the ball in the net.
But Tottenham spurned further opportunities after the break. Pedro Porro and Dominic Solanke also hit the woodwork in what proved a frustrating evening for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
They lived to rue those missed chances when Hummels turned in the equaliser at the death.

The draw leaves Spurs ninth in the Europa League table. With games to come against Rangers, Hoffenheim and Elfsborg, they will need to improve if they are to avoid a play-off to reach the last-16.
Roma looked better under returning boss Ranieri. The 73-year-old former Leicester City manager came out of retirement to manage his boyhood club once again, and has made a decent start to his third stint at the helm.
Fraser Forster Shows His Quality
An encouraging sign for Tottenham was the performance of Fraser Forster in goal.
The veteran keeper has been called upon with first-choice shot-stopper Vicario reportedly out for months.
Speaking about Forster’s performance, Ange Postecoglou said: “He probably thought to himself that’s why he is here and come in when he is needed and be a reliable goalkeeper for us.
“It helped that he has already played for us and it wasn’t his first game. It’s always good for him to pull off a couple of big saves anyway to get back into the groove.”
