VAR was implemented at this stage of the competition but it didn’t come into question for the youngster’s late tackle on Kostas Tsimikas.

Dominic Solanke did feel the wrath of the questionable technology when his second-half strike was ruled out for offside. Nonetheless, Tottenham will still feel hard done by after Anthony Gordon’s equaliser in the last league game.

However, the north Londoners have gained a minor form of revenge and may still get to face Newcastle United in the final at Wembley.

January signing Antonin Kinsky made his debut and certainly made an impression with the home support. One sour note came with the concerning injury to Rodrigo Bentancur who was stretched off in the first-half.

The midfielder fell down at a corner, clearly dazed and confused from an earlier collision but reports suggest he is conscious and awake.
