That’s all from this epic evening in the Europa League. Thanks for reading this Clockwatch. Nighty night.
TNT Sport ask Ange Postecoglou about Radu Drăgușin’s injury … “It’s too early, but it’s his knee, so it’s a bit of a worry.”
… and whether Spurs are planning to sign someone before the transfer window shuts next Monday. “We’ll see … people at the club are working hard behind the scenes to see if we can do some business.”
Match report: FCSB 0-2 Manchester United. Jamie Jackson was there to witness a third consecutive win for Ruben Amorim, against the club formerly known as Steaua Bucharest.
Match report: Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Elfsborg. The kids were alright for Spurs, and Jacob Steinberg was watching.
The Uefa bracket is here, ahead of tomorrow’s draw. There’s little point getting too animated about it at the moment, until we know what’s what once the balls have been pulled from Uefa’s special velvet sac, though it’s probably worth pointing out that Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur can’t meet until the May final in Bilbao. Both English clubs know they’ll face one of AZ, Midtjylland, Real Sociedad or Galatasaray in the last 16; Rangers will get one from Fenerbahce, Twente, Bodo/Glimt and Anderlecht.
The final table
Despite losing at Braga, Lazio finish top, as they always knew they would. Athletic Bilbao, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur leapfrog Eintracht Frankfurt, while Rangers sneak into the top eight after their win over Union Saint-Gilloise, which capitalised on disappointing results for Bodo/Glimt, Anderlecht, FCSB, Plzen and Galatasaray. Talk about grabbing your chance with both hands. Great stuff all round. Meanwhile in the end, Ajax, Real Sociedad, Roma and Porto all avoided elimination without too much drama, while Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce survived by the skin of their teeth. A lot of fun, though like the Champions League last night, ultimately not too much in the way of shock value.

… Rangers hang on, Union Saint Gilloise missing a couple of big chances late on, and the Light Blues are through to the last 16! Rangers really do enjoy this competition.
FULL TIME: Anderlecht 3-4 Hoffenheim. A corner for Anderlecht in the eighth minute of injury time. Mario Stroeykens, six yards out, heads onto the back of Marius Bülter, and the ball squirts wide left. That’s the end of that, and it’s huge news, because …
FULL TIME: FCSB 0-2 Manchester United
United, like Spurs, secure their place in the top eight.
FULL TIME: Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Elfsborg
A huge – and rare – smile plays across Big Ange’s face.
GOAL! Athletic Bilbao 3-1 Plzen (Marton 90). No dream comeback for Plzen, who 60 seconds earlier had Daniel Vasulin sent off for a dreadful rake down an opponent’s leg.
Updated
GOAL! Tottenham 3-0 Elfsborg (Moore 90+4)
Mikey Moore becomes the third Spurs youngster to score tonight, finishing off a run down the middle by threading a forensic shot into the bottom left from the edge of the box. Bedlam in N17!
Updated
GOAL! Ferencvaros 4-2 AZ (Parrott 90). Troy Parrott hammers home from the edge of the box, but it’s surely too late for any sort of comeback.
GOAL! Midtjylland 2-2 Fenerbahce (Andreasen 86). Valdemar Andreasen equalises, and Fenerbahce are suddenly on the brink in 24th spot.
GOAL! Olympiacos 3-0 Qarabag (Biancone 89). Giulian Biancone bundles home from a corner, and Olympiacos are surely through to the last 16.
GOAL! Anderlecht 3-4 Hoffenheim (Augustinsson 88). Ludwig Augustinsson lashes a long-distance shot into the bottom right, and this game is daft. An equaliser for Anderlecht would knock Rangers out of the top eight.
GOAL! Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 IF Elfsborg (Ajayi 84)
From the edge of the Elfsborg D, Damola Ajayi threads a shot into the bottom right, and Spurs are surely home and hosed.
Updated
GOAL! Rangers 2-1 Union Saint Gilloise (Mac Allister 83)
It’s not game over at Ibrox, though. A free kick sent into the Rangers box from the right. Kevin Mac Allister loops a header over Jack Butland, who was home alone in no-man’s land.
Updated
GOAL! Ferencvaros 4-1 AZ (Varga 82 pen). So much for AZ’s lifeline. Barnabas Varga slams a penalty down the middle, and it’s game over for Robbie Keane’s men.
GOAL! Twente 1-0 Besiktas (Rots 76). Daan Rots slots into the bottom left, and the Dutch poke their noses above the cut-off line!
GOAL! Slavia Prague 2-2 Malmo (Schranz 76). Ivan Schranz sweeps home a left-wing cross. Fine finish, and Slavia weren’t behind for long.
Updated
GOAL! Anderlecht 2-4 Hoffenheim (Goto 79).
GOAL! Ferencvaros 3-1 AZ (Mijnans 76).
Keisuke Goto and Sven Mijnans throw a couple of lifelines.
GOAL! Dynamo Kiev 1-0 Rigas FS (Pikhalyonok 76). Oleksandr Pikhalyonok finishes off a scramble in the Rigas box. More fags for the Rigas lion, please. Some booze too.
Updated
GOAL! Lyon 1-1 Ludogorets (Almeida 77). Dinis Almeida sticks out a leg to divert a left-wing cross into the box, and that’s a blow for the French, whose top-eight qualification is yet to be rubber-stamped.
GOAL! Slavia Prague 1-2 Malmo (Bolin 71). Malmo didn’t take long to restore their lead in Prague. Hugo Bolin with the goal. Not that it really matters, this being a dead rubber, both teams already out. But still.
GOAL! Nice 1-1 Bodo/Glimt (Bouanani 74). Badredine Bouanani levels up for Nice, and the goal puts Rangers into the top eight!
GOAL! Slavia Prague 1-1 Malmo (Ali 69). This is an absolute belter. Taha Ali whistling an equaliser into the top left.

Much better news for Spurs here! Dejan Kulusevski advances down the inside-right channel and curls into the box for Dane Scarlett, who heads across keeper Isak Pettersson and into the bottom right. Lovely goal!

Updated
Tottenham 0-0 Elfsborg. Radu Drăgușin came on at half time; he hobbles off now having landed very awkwardly on his knee. He grabbed it the moment he landed, dropping to the floor in very real pain. Hopefully his departure is just a precautionary measure, but that certainly didn’t look very good. He walked off the pitch, but then so did Virgil van Dijk after being tackled by Jordan Pickford, and that cost the big man a year of action.
GOAL! Anderlecht 1-4 Hoffenheim (Hlozek 65). Hoffenheim running riot now, Adam Hlozek with the latest. Still futile as things stand, but they’re doing their level best.
GOAL! Olympiacos 2-0 Qarabag (El Kaabi 60). We’re up to speed with Ayoub El Kaabi’s second, though. The Greeks into the top eight now.
GOAL! Olympiacos 1-0 Qarabag (El Kaabi 56). Belated news of this.
GOAL! FCSB 0-1 Man Utd (Dalot 60)
Michael Butler with the details!
GOAL! Anderlecht 1-2 Hoffenheim (Bischof 54).
GOAL! Anderlecht 1-3 Hoffenheim (Mokwa 59).
Hoffenheim aren’t out of the woods yet. But they’re trying to make the nigh-on impossible happen.
GOAL! Ajax 2-0 Galatasaray (Fitz-Jim 58). Kian Fitz-Jim larrups a low diagonal drive into the bottom left, and Ajax are another big club doing their best to save themselves tonight!
GOAL! Maccabi Tel-Aviv 0-1 Porto 1 (Gonzalez 58). A huge goal for Porto from Nico Gonzalez. Porto on course to save themselves!
Updated
GOAL! Lyon 1-0 Ludogorets (Tolisso 54). Corentin Tolisso sends the French side into third spot in the table.
GOAL! Rangers 2-0 Union Saint Gilloise (Černý 55)
So close to 1-1 at Ibrox … but now it’s 2-0! Cyriel Dessers turns Ross Sykes inside and out down the left, before slipping across for Václav Černý, who slams home. Huge goal!
Updated
GOAL! Nice 0-1 Bodo/Glimt (Bjorkan 54). Fredrik André Bjørkan whips a shot into the bottom left, and Bodo/Glimt’s dreams of a top-eight finish are on!
Rangers 1-0 Union Saint-Gilloise. Mohammed Fuseini clear down the middle. He rounds Jack Butland, but doesn’t get enough purchase on his shot. James Tavernier hooks clear, but only into the path of Franjo Ivanovic … who then dinks over the bar of an open goal! Rangers breathe again.
GOAL! Slavia Prague 1-0 Malmo (Chorý 46). Tomáš Chorý comes on at half-time, and takes less than a minute to whistle a rising shot into the top-right corner. Leaning back on the spot, he nearly takes the net off. Malmo ruing Erik Botheim’s missed penalty even further now.
GOAL! Real Sociedad 2-0 PAOK (Oskarsson 48). A lot of headers flying in tonight. Orri Óskarsson scores the latest, and his second of the night, powering Aritz Elustondo’s right-wing cross home.
GOAL! Midtjylland 1-2 Fenerbahce (Džeko 47). Sebastian Szymański crosses from the left. Edin Džeko nips in at the near post, hanging out a leg to force home. He’s 38!
Dynamo Kyiv 0-0 Rigas FS. Not much to report from this one. Both teams are already out anyway. But just to say RFS win the award for the best crest in the competition: a lion with a fag on.
The table: as it stands
Lazio remain top, despite trailing at Braga. Bilbao move up to second at the expense of Eintracht Frankfurt. Manchester United and Spurs hold onto their top-eight places, while Rangers have nudged their way into ninth. They’d just need any of the three teams directly above them – Spurs, Anderlecht or FCSB – to concede one, and they’d leapfrog into the automatic qualification spots for the round of 16. They could get in at Lyon’s expense, too, but that’d need more of a goal swing.

GOAL! Ferencvaros 3-0 AZ (Ben Romdhane 45). Mohammad Abu Fani curls in from the right, and Mohamed Ben Romdhane steers home for his second of the game. Robbie Keane working wonders in only his second match as Ferencvaros manager!
Updated
GOAL! Roma 1-0 Eintracht Frankfurt (Angelino 44). Jose Angelino meets a deep cross from the right and forces it in from a tight angle. Roma saving themselves at the expense of the second-placed Germans!
Updated
Rangers 1-0 Union Saint-Gilloise. A Rangers corner is half-cleared. Nedim Bajrami heads it back into the mixer. Cyriel Dessers, so nearly the hero of Old Trafford, meets the dropping ball and lashes it into the bottom left. Neat finish, but he was a smidgen offside.
GOAL! Real Sociedad 1-0 PAOK (Oskarsson 43). Orri Steinn Oskarsson heads home from close range to give the Basques the lead. Qualification for La Real looks on!
GOAL! Anderlecht 1-1 Hoffenheim (Hranac 41). The Germans level from a corner, Robin Hranac heading powerfully down towards the bottom left. It’s heading in. Killian Sardella can only help it on, a futile attempt to hook clear. But it won’t be an own goal.
Tottenham 0-0 Elfsborg. Son Heung-Min dances his way into the Elfsborg box from the left, reaches the byline, and cuts back for Mikey Moore, who smacks his shot straight at keeper Isak Pettersson.
GOAL! Midtjylland 1-1 Fenerbahce (En-Nesyri 39). Edin Džeko barges his way into space down the left, and feeds Youssef En-Nesyri, who takes advantage of the ball rearing up as he enters the box, and chips keeper Jonas Lössl. Jose Mourinho alive again!
Updated
Roma 0-0 Eintracht Frankfurt. A corner in from the left. Lorenzo Pellegrini wins a header and pings – rather than crashes – it off the left-hand upright. Eintracht keeper Kevin Trapp slapps the rebound away.
GOAL! Ferencvaros 2-0 AZ (Traore 34). Adama Traoré has just scored an absolute gem for Robbie Keane’s side. He takes a couple of strides down the inside-right channel before unleashing a rising drive towards the top-right corner. The ball pings off the underside of the crossbar, close to the junction of bar and post, down and in. You’ll not see a better goal tonight.
Rangers 1-0 Union Saint Gilloise. Actually, there might have been an offside among all that mayhem too. Either way, Rangers came very close to conceding a very poor goal.
Rangers 1-0 Union Saint Gilloise. Charles Vanhoutte curls a free kick into the Rangers box from the right. The home side fail to win a couple of headers, and Franjo Ivanovic nutmegs Jack Butland from six yards. Such a messy goal … but it won’t stand, because there’s been some pushin’ and a-shovin’ amid the melee. That’s a bit soft, but VAR has come to Rangers’ rescue there.
GOAL! Midtjylland 1-0 Fenerbahce (Diao 27). A cross swung in from the left. Ousmane Diao rises highest and heads home. Jose Mourinho’s men won’t qualify as things stand.
Updated
GOAL! Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Plzen (Williams 25). A mere 90 seconds after Dani Vivian has a goal disallowed, Iñaki Williams steams down the right and crosses for his younger brother, who can’t miss.
Updated
GOAL! Ajax 1-0 Galatasaray (Traore 23). Brian Brobbey, attempting to hold the ball up while being wrestled to the ground, manages to send Chuba Akpom away down the left with a hook from the floor. Akpom shoots. Fernando Muslera parries but Bertrand Traore, haring in from the right, slams home. Survival for the Dutch giants is on!
Updated
GOAL! Rangers 1-0 Union Saint-Gilloise (Raskin 21)
James Tavernier, running back up the left wing after a slightly miscued corner, swivels and whips a glorious cross to the far stick. Nicolas Raskin arrives on the right-hand corner of the D and steers a fine header back across goal and into the left-hand side of the net. Ibrox launches into space! Rangers love this competition.
Updated
GOAL! Anderlecht 1-0 Hoffenheim (Vazquez 18). A stunning goal by Luis Vazquez, who glides in from the right touchline before curling an unstoppable shot across the keeper and into the top left. Hoffenheim’s campaign hanging by a thread.
Updated
Ajax 0-0 Galatasaray. Ajax need a win to guarantee more European action this season. They’re fortunate they’re not behind already, with Barış Alper Yılmaz crossing dangerously from the right, Victor Osimhen flashing a header wide right.
Rangers 0-0 Union Saint-Gilloise. Leon King picks up a concussion and is forced to make way for Ross McCausland.
Slavia Prague 0-0 Malmo. The ball pings onto Slavia defender David Zima’s hand, and the referee points to the penalty spot (after a little help from VAR). Erik Botheim scuffs the penalty towards the bottom left, and it’s a laughably easy claim for Prague’s Aleš Mandous.
Roma 0-0 Eintracht Frankfurt. Roma need to win to make sure of survival. They’ve just spurned a huge chance, Evan N’Dicka crossing from the left for Artem Dovbyk, who hoicks over from six yards.
GOAL! Ferencvaros 1-0 AZ (Ben Romdhane 9). Robbie Keane’s team take an early lead in style. Adama Traoré cuts in from the right and crosses long for Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, who slams a header home from close range. What an inviting cross that was.
Updated
GOAL! Braga 1-0 Lazio (Horta 6). Victor Gómez advances down the right and cuts back for his captain Ricardo Horta, who whips into the bottom left. A lovely goal, and so Braga are on for the win they need to survive. Lazio, the table toppers, have little or nothing to play for.

Tottenham Hotspur 0-0 Elfsborg. A sprightly start for Spurs as Mikey Moore spins in from the right touchline and attacks the visiting defence. The ball’s switched to Son Heung-Min on the other flank. A scuffed shot. But a promising early attack.
It’s chaos o’clock. Lights, whistles, action.
All across the continent, teams take to the field. There are muscles to be stretched, corporate anthems politely listened to, hands shaken, coins tossed, pennants swapped, whistles sounded, hopes realised and dreams shattered. We’ll be off in a couple of minutes. “With apologies to Elfsborg, I think Spurs could start to turn things around if they beat their opponents tonight. But given their form, that is a big IF.” Peter Oh, ladies and gentlemen. He’s here all week. Try the smörgåsbord.
Jeopardy Corner. There’s not a lot of it about. Lazio are the only team to have already guaranteed their place in the last 16. Manchester United and Tottenham can both join them in giving the play-offs the bodyswerve: wins tonight will make sure of their last-16 spot; draws may be enough. Like United and Spurs, Rangers are at least certain of making the play-off round; a win may be enough for a top-right spot, but they’d need quite a few results elsewhere to go their way. But there are some continental behemoths in serious peril: Ajax, Real Sociedad and Roma are not too far above the 24th-placed cut-off line, while Porto are just under it.

Here’s how the mega-table looks going into the final matchday of the league phase. There are 36 clubs playing 18 fixtures to determine which eight qualify automatically for the Round of 16 and which 16 go into the play-off round. Enjoy, enjoy.
