Tottenham transfer round-up: Clement Lenglet latest as Matt Doherty future clear

As Antonio Conte and his men prepare to jet off to South Korea for Tottenham ’s pre-season tour, an exciting summer of transfer ins and outs shows no sign of abating.

Conte has already completed several big-name signings, including Brazil star Richarlison from Everton, Croatia international Ivan Perisic on a free transfer from Inter Milan and Yves Bissouma from Brighton.

At the end of a week which hasn’t exactly been great for those involved in balancing up, Spurs now have to get players who don’t play a part in Conte’s vision for the next couple of seasons out of the door. Mirror Sport has rounded up the latest Tottenham transfer news and rumours.

Lenglet undergoing medical

Conte’s top defensive target, Clement Lenglet, is undergoing a medical ahead of his season-long move from Barcelona, with an announcement confirming his arrival expected within 24 hours. Press Association reports the 15-cap France defender’s move is all but done with club sources suggesting that, barring any last-minute glitches, an announcement will come before the team leaves for South Korea. Whether or not Lenglet will join his new team-mates on board their flight remains to be seen, though, with the Evening Standard reporting that an entry visa for South Korea might not be issued in time. Lenglet has been allowed to leave on the back of Andreas Christensen’s arrival at Barca and will compete with Ben Davies for the left central defensive spot in Conte’s back three.

Doherty can go

Right-back Matt Doherty has been told he can also leave Tottenham two years after joining from Wolves. Doherty dropped down the pecking order following Emerson Royal’s arrival from Barcelona and, according to talkSPORT, Spurs will listen to offers for him during this transfer window. The Republic of Ireland international didn’t start a Premier League game in the first half of last season but did well when he was called upon after Christmas. However, Conte and the club have opened the door for offers and Doherty could well be on the move to find more regular first-team football.

Winks latest

As first reported by the Mirror Sport, Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks has been told he can leave the club for £15million and Everton are now expected to step up their pursuit of the player. Winks, capped 10 times by England, is a long-term target for the Goodison Park club and that has not changed since Frank Lampard’s arrival. Winks came through the ranks at Spurs and flourished under Mauricio Pochettino. But his long association with the club is at an end after a frustrating couple of years.

Bergwijn ambition

Steven Bergwijn, who joined Spurs from PSV Eindhoven two-and-a-half years ago, has penned a five-year deal at the Amsterdam Arena. BBC Sport carry quotes on Bergwijn’s arrival from Ajax head coach Alfred Schreuder, who said: “It is indicative of Steven's ambition that he chose to make the step to Ajax. “He is a player with many qualities. He has enormous drive and is also very goal-oriented.. Of course, I am happy that we were able to sign him, he adds new quality to our team.”
