Tottenham transfer round-up: Antonio Conte eyes two defenders including 'next Dani Alves'

On your marks, get set, spend.

With the transfer window opening overnight, Antonio Conte is preparing his summer trolley dash. The Spurs manager has been handed a significant budget by Daniel Levy as the north London club look to kick-on after edging back into the top four.

The Tottenham head coach has already landed ex-England goalkeeper Fraser Forster as cover for Hugo Lloris on a free transfer from Southampton, but the race is hotting up to bring in more reinforcements. A host of names have been linked and Conte's priority has started to become clear.

Here's a round-up of all the latest gossip surrounding Tottenham's summer spending plans.

Conte's centre-back priority

With the transfer window open from midnight, the starting pistol has been fired on Conte's pursuit of six new players to underpin Tottenham's Champions League campaign.

Two central defenders are high on his shopping list, and Tottenham's pursuit of Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni is well-documented. But Conte is also in the hunt for Torino's Brazilian centre-back Gleison Bremer, and Corriere Granata in Italy claim Spurs have contacted the player's representatives ahead of tabling a £30m offer.

San Siro co-tenants AC Milan and Inter both want to sign Bremer, and Tottenham will be anxious to avoid being drawn into a bidding war.

Dodo's not extinct, he's for sale

Shakhtar Donetsk wing-back Dodo is ready to quit war-torn Ukraine this summer, with Tottenham said to be in the market for the Brazilian.

The 23-year-old has been labelled the 'new Dani Alves', and Barcelona coach Xavi has also been linked with Dodo, along with Bayern Munich and Fiorentina.

He would be an oven-ready alternative if Conte misses out on Middlesbrough's £15m-rated Djed Spence, who helped Nottingham Forest clinch promotion to the Premier League while on loan at the City Ground last month.

Rashford enquiry

In the long-shot category, Spurs are said to have asked about England striker Marcus Rashford's availability, according to The Times.

But Rashford's feedback, after a disappointing season at Manchester United, is that he wants to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place under new boss Erik ten Hag.

Everton interest in duo

Steven Bergwijn and Harry Winks are thought to be on their way out at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Everton boss Frank Lampard – who went shopping in north London for Dele Alli in January – is reported to be interested in the pair.

According to Thisisfutbol.com, Ajax have had a £17 million bid for Bergwijn rejected by Spurs, who are looking for closer to £25m for the Dutch forward.
