Tottenham transfer news: "Next Virgil van Dijk" 'wants to join Spurs rather than Everton'

Antonio Conte welcomed a sixth summer signing to the club this week in the shape of Djed Spence.

But his comments about the £20m wing-back might be cause for some alarm among Tottenham dabs expecting him to play every week. And Conte still wants Spurs to be aggressive in the market as we come towards the ends of the transfer window.

Here, Mirror sport looks at the latest transfer rumours.

Spurs get green light for £55m star

Tottenham Hotspur have been given a green light in their pursuit of Lucas Paqueta, according to FootballFanCast.

The Lyon playmaker's asking price has been slashed from £55m to £34m, meaning Spurs could land him for a snip. Manchester City and Paris St-Germain are also said to be interested but the Brazil star would surely get more playing time at Tottenham.

£19m defender wants Spurs move over Everton

Fenerbahce will sell defender Min-Jae Kim this summer - even though their coach Jorge Jesus doesn't want them to.

And HITC report that the South Korean's preference is to link up with his countryman Heung-min Son at Spurs. That would disappoint Everton, who are also credited with an interest in the 25-year-old, who has been compared to Virgil van Dijk.

Spence not a Conte signing

Djed Spence became Tottenham's sixth summer signing this week - but Conte has revealed it wasn't the Italian pushing to sign him.

Spurs have a history of recruiting young players who were not necessarily a priority for a succession of recent managers. And the Daily Mail report Conte saying: "Spence is an investment of the club. The club wanted to do it. I said, 'OK, this player is young but he showed he can become a good, important player for us'. The club decided to buy him.'
