Tottenham transfer news: Mauricio Pochettino provides update after Harry Kane and Dele Alli injuries

Mauricio Pochettino insists injuries to Harry Kane and Dele Alli have not changed Tottenham's transfer policy and that they are "trying" to do something in the January window.

With Kane suffering an ankle injury and Alli sidelined after straining his hamstring, Spurs will likely have to cope without the pair until March.

Son Heung-min continues to be absent on international duty, though Lucas Moura is set to return from his own injury, but Pochettino is adamant nothing has changed in his mind.

"It is so clear, I am so open to improve the squad and add a player if Harry Kane and Dele Alli are fit or not fit," said the Argentine. "I was open in the summer and I am open now.

"The difficult thing is to find quality that will add to the squad.

"We are not going to change strategy, we are working, we will see what happens at the end."

Chelsea away in the Carabao Cup is next, with the second leg delicately poised after Harry Kane's much-debated penalty gave Spurs a 1-0 aggregate advantage.

With Crystal Palace in the FA Cup following the trip to Stamford Bridge, Pochettino is looking to survive and admits Alli going down in the 2-1 win over Fulham could not have come at a worse time.

"Now we need to be positive like with Harry Kane. Of course, we are going to miss him for a long period," Pochettino added.

"It's one of the worst moments because we have ahead very busy fixtures.

"You know very well that for us the squad is very important and of course it's a very good opportunity for other players to step up."
