Tottenham transfer news: Christian Eriksen boost emerges as wonderkid reveals dream

Amid speculation surrounding his departure, Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte will still be pushing for transfers to be brought in to fulfil his goals which will increase the chances of keeping the Italian in North London. One such signing which is being touted for the club is the return of Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen who has been impressing during his short term deal at Brentford.

The 29-year-old, who has returned to English football following his release by Inter Milan previously worked with Conte, winning the Scudetto with the Italians in 2020/21, just before the Dane suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020. This incident required a device to be fitted which would restart Eriksen's heart in the event of a repeat incident, something which was not allowed by footballing authorities in Italy, prompting his return to England.

His work alongside Conte as well as his lasting popularity with Tottenham fans would be a huge draw for Eriksen, who is thought to want to remain in London where his family feel at home following his seven year stint at Spurs previously. He still has a strong relationship with many of Spurs' players and could operate behind Harry Kane and Son Heung MIn in a 3-5-2 system.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, football.london's Spurs reporter Alasdair Gold confirmed the interest and the reason why a move could work, he said: “He would fit in there like a glove, in [Antonio] Conte’s 3-5-2, as he did with Inter Milan. I know Spurs have spoken, have had discussions about bringing him in as a free agent – as in amongst themselves.

“I think there’s going to be a queue of competition for him. I don’t think he left Spurs on the best of terms with the hierarchy. But, he does love the club. He wants to stay in London, from what I understand, with his family.” The move would suit the Tottenham hierarchy due to the Dane's free agent status come June 30th, and Daniel Levy could be willing to leave any previous issues in the past in the pursuit of a transfer.

Another potential midfield option could be Bristol City's Alex Scott, the 18-year-old has progressed from being an academy player to making over 30 appearances for the Robins in central midfield this season. He is known for his defensive work in the middle of the park and has targeted England honours in the future following his breakthrough season.

He recently spoke to Bristol Live about his plans for the future and reflected on his debut campaign which has seen him linked with Leeds in addition to Spurs. He explained: "I think at the moment and the way it's going, my dream would be to play for England."

"Especially playing in the younger age groups and you see the first team players sometimes when you're there and it's a big dream for me to play for England as I progress. Maybe at the start of the season, it would have just been playing as many games as I can for Bristol City. I didn't expect to be playing so many games. I'd have been happy with 10."

"You can hear the noise, you know the noise is there but I just try to get on with my football," The England youth international added.

"We've still got two games left to play so I just want to finish the season strongly and put myself in the best position for the Euros in the summer if I get picked. I try my best to ignore it, I don't read anything on social media so I think that's the best way to keep it."
