Tottenham are already among the key movers and shakers in the summer transfer market but a move for Alessandro Bastoni has faltered.
With the Italian defender set to stay at Inter Milan, the club are reportedly hard at work surveying a number of alternatives to bolster Antonio Conte’s backline.
Roma’s Roger Ibanez is the latest name to emerge along with the likes of Pau Torres, Gleison Bremer and Josko Gvardiol.
So far this summer, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster have signed ahead of Tottenham’s return to the Champions League.
Here is your latest update of Spurs transfer news and rumours...
Roger Ibanez
Roma are ready to accept a bid of just £25million, should Tottenham be serious in their interest in Roger Ibanez.
The central defender, 23, arrived on an initial loan from Atalanta in January 2020 for just over £6m and therefore the Italian club are described by CalcioMercato as happy to bank a decent profit on his sale.
Jose Mourinho, ex-Tottenham manager, is a big fan of Ibanez and has made him a first-team regular at the Stadio Olimpico. Newcastle are also said to be keen on his signature.
Pau Torres
Villarreal defender Pau Torres is another on Tottenham’s defensive list, according to Standard Sport’s Malik Ouzia.
Spurs sent midfielder Giovani Lo Celso to the Spanish club on loan in January and he could be used as a makeweight in any deal.
Manchester United are strongly linked with a rival bid, Torres’ contract holding a release clause of around £51million.
Gleison Bremer
Conte turned to the Premier League while recruiting for his Inter Milan side and, now back in England, the Italian is evidently setting his sights on Serie A.
Torino centre-back Bremer was voted the league’s best defender for 2021-22 and bids of around £34m are expected to land for the 25-year-old Brazilian.
Sportitalia detail interest from AC Milan and Inter, the latter supposedly the frontrunners for Bremer, who is a natural in a three-man defence.
Josko Gvardiol
More competition from Manchester United, plus Chelsea, is set to arrive for Croatia and RB Leipzig defender Gvardiol.
The Croatian is reported by the Telegraph to be worth around £40m but Leipzig are expected to drive a hard bargain to keep their star.
Aged only 20, Gvardiol already has 45 Leipzig appearances tallied up and can provide competition for Ben Davies as a left-footed central defender.
