Tottenham transfer news and rumours: Interest in Illan Meslier; Napoli deal close; James Garner considered

Tottenham have already had an incredibly busy summer but there is still more work to be done.

Destiny Udogie is set to become the club’s seventh signing of the window, though will immediately return to Napoli on loan, while there is also interest in James Garner as a midfield option and Spurs are keeping tabs on Illan Meslier as a longer-term target.

The club are keen to find buyers for a number of unwanted players, with Tanguy Ndombele one of those and he is close to sealing a move away from north London.

Here is your latest update of Tottenham transfer news and rumours...

Illan Meslier

Goalkeeper is not necessarily a position Tottenham are currently prioritising in the transfer market, with new signing Fraser Forster providing back-up to Hugo Lloris.

But The Athletic report that Spurs have real interest in Leeds’ Illan Meslier, seeing the Frenchman as a potential successor to Hugo Lloris in the near future.

It’s claimed that while Manchester United are also among the clubs keen on Meslier, Tottenham are currently the club most likely to sign the goalkeeper.

Tanguy Ndombele

Selling unwanted players is now arguably more of a focus for Spurs than bringing in new signings.

The club were incredibly active earlier in the window, as they got their business done in plenty of time, and now Tottenham are looking to move on those who are not part of Antonio Conte’s plans.

Giovani Lo Celso has returned to Villarreal, and Tanguy Ndombele is on the verge of completing a season-long loan move to Napoli, with the Italian side having the option to make it permanent next summer for £25million.

The Frenchman, who has been training away from the main squad, is believed to be keen on the move.

Tottenham are also looking to move Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks on before the end of the window.

James Garner

Tottenham are making little progress in bringing Nicolo Zaniolo to the club, so are reportedly turning the alternative options.

One of those is Manchester United’s James Garner, according to The Athletic, who is understood to be available for a fee in the region of £14million.

It’s claimed that Fabio Paratici is a big fan of the 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, after watching him while scouting Djed Spence.
