Here are your Nottingham Forest headlines on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
Forest 'worried'
Jamie Carragher believes Nottingham Forest will be “worried” after Leicester City and Everton drew 2-2 on Monday night.
Forest slipped back into the Premier League relegation zone as the Foxes moved above them with a point against the Toffees. Everton also moved a point closer to Steve Cooper ’s side after they fought back at the King Power Stadium.
Forest, Leicester and Leeds United are all locked together on 30 points, with Everton on 29 points in 19th place and Southampton bottom on 24 points.
Caglar Soyuncu and Jamie Vardy both scored for Leicester as they led Everton 2-1 until Alex Iwobi’s equaliser in the second half.
Spurs eye MGW
Nottingham Forest ace Morgan Gibbs-White is said to be on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer.
The 23-year-old has been a key figure for the Reds this season since his club record move from Wolverhampton Wanderers. And he can be instrumental in the remaining four games as Steve Cooper ’s side fight to avoid relegation.
But his eye-catching performances have seemingly not gone unnoticed. Spurs are keeping an eye on him, according to the Daily Mail.
Tottenham are targeting a creative midfielder when the transfer window opens. They have reportedly made a check on Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and see Leicester City’s James Maddison as their priority, but are also “monitoring” Gibbs-White.
Biancone message
Nottingham Forest defender Giulian Biancone has taken an important step in his recovery from his anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The 23-year-old says he is ready to return “home” to the City Ground after completing part of his rehabilitation abroad. Although not able to get on the pitch for the Reds in their remaining four games, he is determined to play his part as Steve Cooper ’s side battle to avoid relegation.
Biancone has been sidelined since November, when an innocuous incident in training ruled him out for the rest of the campaign. He underwent surgery in Austria before spending time at an Isokinetic centre in Italy.
'Criminal' verdict
Former Premier League goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has said that the split in the Nottingham Forest rule for Ivan Toney’s free kick was ‘criminal’ as he defended Keylor Navas.
Toney’s strike went through the four-man wall, before Navas could only save the ball onto the post for it to bounce off him and into the goal to draw Brentford level in the 82nd minute. It was a goal that proved to be crucial.
Things got worse for Forest in added time when Josh Dasilva cut inside and found a way past Naves via a deflection to condemn the Reds to late heartbreak. The loss means that Forest are now back in the relegation zone but only on goal difference.
Zinckernagel in 'talks'
Nottingham Forest promotion hero Philip Zinckernagel is said to be in talks about his future ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Dane is currently on loan at Standard Liege from Olympiacos. And he has been in fine form since making the move in September.
Zinckernagel has made clear he would like to stay with the Belgian outfit, but admits the decision will not come down to him. Fellow Evangelos Marinakis -owned side Olympiacos are “thinking” about how he can play a part next season, according to Greek media outlet SDNA.
They quote Zinckernagel as telling newspaper La Capitale in a translated interview: "My managers are in talks with Standard and Olympiacos. I've said before that I want to stay, but it's just not up to me.
