Tottenham Hotspur’s director of football Fabio Paratici has explained why his club hijacked Everton’s move for Arnaut Danjuma.
The attacker had looked like he was going to move to Everton during the January transfer window after the Blues and Villarreal struck a deal for the Netherlands international. Danjuma is believed to have been on Merseyside and completed his medical.
However, in a dramatic twist, the 25-year-old suddenly travelled to London to hold talks with Spurs after Antonio Conte’s side made a late move for him. And shortly after arriving at Tottenham’s training ground, he was announced as a Spurs player.

And speaking for the first time since the January transfer window closed, Paratici has not only explained why his side made the call to swoop in and sign Danjuma, but revealed his club have the chance to sign the attacker on a permanent deal in the summer.
“I think Danjuma will be really important, he can help us a lot,” he told tottenhamhotspur.com.
“He is a player that for two or three years, in every transfer window, he was near to joining some big clubs and even in the last summer Villarreal rejected a big offer for him and when we got the opportunity to sign him, we took this opportunity.
“It’s not about that because we believe in the player, we know the player so we are happy more for him because it’s a good debut and it’s a good injection of confidence. I think this is the most important thing.
“We have the option to buy and so we will see what happens in the next five months.”
