Tottenham told Premier League star 'starts' ahead of Dejan Kulusevski amid transfer opportunity

Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha would start ahead of Dejan Kulusevski at Tottenham Hotspur. The 29-year-old's contract expires at the end of the current season, amid talk that he'll finally get another big move to the likes of Spurs, Arsenal or even Chelsea.

Kulusevski has made a great start to his Spurs career since moving from Juventus to the Premier League - initially on loan but with a view to buy - but Zaha has been equally impressive despite playing for a typically 'smaller club' in Palace.

Despite his age, Agbonlahor doesn't think it's too late for the Ivorian to get another big move, having been disappointed by a lack of opportunities at Manchester United several years ago. Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: "I don't think that he's missed his chance. Knowing that his contract is up next summer, he can go on a free transfer to a big club.

"I mean if you're an Arsenal, Spurs or Chelsea, you're snapping him up on a three-year contract at the age of 30. He's been playing in the Premier League for a long time but his hunger is still there and he lifts the crowd. He's a great player and hopefully he gets that big move."

He added: "I think he’ll want to leave. I remember speaking to him three or four years ago and he was frustrated at not getting a move, but do you want to stay with Palace and hope that they invest, or do you want go to Arsenal or Spurs where they’ll give you the top wages and you'll play in the Champions League? You can’t turn it down."

Asked who he'd rather have in his team, Richarlison or Zaha, Agbonlahor said: "Zaha. Crystal Palace are a good team and Zaha is doing it in that team and sometimes it might be harder, but put Richarlison in Crystal Palace’s side, will he have the impact that Zaha has had? I don’t think so.

"If he goes to a bigger club he'll have more space and he'll do well. He starts at Spurs. I'd have Zaha over Kulusevski. I'd have Son, Kane and Zaha."

At 29, Zaha's next contract decision is pivotal to his career. If he stays at Palace, that probably is it for a big move moving forward, but then again, that would also cement his position as a legend in south London.
