Tottenham to assess Cristian Romero and Heung-min Son after stars pick up knocks on international duty

Tottenham pair Heung-min Son and Cristian Romero will be assessed for knocks sustained on international duty when they report back to the club on Friday, although there is no serious concern about either player.

Romero was withdrawn shortly after half-time of Argentina's World Cup qualifying win over Peru in the early hours of Wednesday morning after taking a blow to his right ankle, but afterwards told local broadcasters the substitution was a precaution.

The centre-half is confident of being available to face Fulham on Monday.

Son, meanwhile, played 90 minutes of South Korea's friendly win over Vietnam but appeared in visible discomfort in the second half, and revealed after the game he had to manage his training load beforehand due to a niggling groin problem.

Spurs are aware of the issue and have also been limiting Son's full intensity sessions between matches, but he is also not considered a doubt for the visit of the Cottagers.

Son and Romero, Spurs' new captain and vice-captain respectively, have started every game during their unbeaten start to the League season, helping to propel Ange Postecoglou's new-look side to the top of the fledgling Premier League table.

Pape Matar Sarr, who was pictured with an ice pack on his foot after featuring for Senegal during the international break, resumed training at Spurs on Wednesday.

Yves Bissouma is out of the Fulham game after being sent off in the win over Luton last time out but Spurs are hopeful that Brennan Johnson will feature. Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso are eyeing their first minutes in the League this season.
