Tottenham are sweating on the fitness of new signing Rodrigo Bentancur after the midfielder underwent a scan on Thursday.
Bentancur was forced off at half-time of Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to Burnley after jarring his leg when he slipped on the wet pitch in the early exchanges.
The Uruguayan is expected to miss Saturday’s crunch match at Leeds, with concerns he could be sidelined for around three weeks.
The news is a fresh blow to Antonio Conte, who has been missing midfielder Oliver Skipp since last month after he developed an infection during treatment for a groin injury.
Spurs – who offloaded three central midfielders in Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso on deadline day, the latter two on loan – are therefore expected to have just Harry Winks and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg available in the position at Elland Road.
Bentancur has made an immediate impression since his deadline-day move from Juventus and has started the last three matches.
Fellow new signing Dejan Kulusevski has also adapted quickly to the Premier League and one consideration for Conte in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off could be to use the Swede at right wing-back.
Kulusevski switched to wing-back for the final 25 minutes at Turf Moor and twice came close to opening the scoring before Ben Mee's winner condemned Spurs to a fourth defeat in five League games and prompted an emotional rant from Conte, in which he questioned if he was the right man for the job.
