Tottenham submit new planning application to build extension at Hotspur Way training complex

Tottenham have submitted a new planning application to construct a media centre at their Hotspur Way training complex in Enfield.

There is currently work going at the training ground on a single-storey extension to the club's academy building to help develop more young players and also give a dedicated space to Tottenham Hotspur Women to train and work. When the application was made to Enfield Council last year for that extension, another one was also made and permission granted for a two-storey extension to build a new media centre on the end of the first team building.

However, in recent weeks that application has been resubmitted to the council because Spurs want to make the new extension slightly bigger on the northern end of the west wing of the training ground. The new two-storey media centre, designed by F3 Architects, will have film studios for visual content creation alongside associated storage space, while the first floor level will provide work and meeting facilities for the club's press and media teams.

There will also be a remodelling of the existing first team reception are to provide additional toilet facilities, while the space above the reception seating area will be transformed into a TV studio.

The new facilities will house desk space for 30 to 35 staff in total, an editing suite with desks for seven staff, an editing space within the large studio, a press director office which doubles as additional flexible meeting space, a separate meeting room, an open plan office, meeting booths and 'creative thinking space'.

There will be three studios, including an informal studio 'living room', a formal interview studio and a green screen/VR studio as well as a functioning mobile show kitchen plus a gaming lounge space with large scale TV.

Below is a gallery with a series of images of how the new media centre will look from different sides.

Within the design statement from the club, it states: "The brief for the proposed Tottenham Hotspur Media Centre has developed as a direct result of the changing landscape of professional sport and the requirements that clubs need to meet in order to compete commercially in the industry.

"The intention of the Media Centre is to provide dedicated space for the club’s media and content teams, designed to suit the developing trends for workspaces that foster creativity and drive improved productivity. The facility will also free up much needed space in the main training centre building for the Tottenham Hotspur Women staff team who have recently shifted their home base to the training centre campus."

The council have until April 19 to decide on the new application.
