Tottenham summer signing Richarlison has been nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award after scoring a spectacular bicycle kick for Brazil during the World Cup. The 25-year-old enjoyed an impressive tournament in Qatar but was unable to help his nation reach the final.
Brazil were dumped out of the competition in the quarter-finals as they lost on penalties despite heading into the competition as favourites. Richarlison started ahead of Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus for the Selecao and rewarded Tite's decision with two goals in their first match against Serbia.
Tite has since left his post as Brazil boss following their early exit from the World Cup. The Tottenham star has now been nominated for the FIFA award among a number of other sensational goals scored around the world.

The Brazil international is currently absent with a hamstring injury and has not featured for Spurs since before the World Cup. Richarlison joins the likes of Dimitri Payet, Mario Balotelli, Kylian Mbappe and Lionesses star Alessia Russo on the list of nominations.
The 25-year-old opened the scoring for Brazil against Serbia after latching onto the rebound from Vinicius Junior's shot, putting Tite's team 1-0 up. Richarlison followed this up with a stunning overhead kick as he controlled the ball on his chest before volleying it into the back of the net on the turn.
Richarlison will hope to win the award and become the third player with ties to Tottenham to win the award, following in the footsteps of Son Heung-min (2020) and Erik Lamela (2021). The full list of nominations for the FIFA Puskas Award 2022 is below:
