Tottenham star delivers shock squad verdict on Harry Kane to Real Madrid transfer

Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has surprisingly endorsed a potential Harry Kane to Real Madrid transfer.

Kane has a little over 12 months remaining on his current contract in north London, with both Manchester United and Madrid heavily linked as the summer transfer window fast approaches. “If Kane decides to go to Real Madrid we'll be as happy as he is or more," he said, via the Evening Standard, at the opening of a training camp named after him.

Real have allowed veteran striker Karim Benzema to leave the club this summer, meaning they will be in the market for a new centre-forward and the BBC have reported that Kane is on top of Los Blancos' wishlist when it comes to recruiting a new frontman. Spurs endured an extremely difficult 2022/23 campaign, finishing eighth in the Premier League standings in a season that saw head coach Antonio Conte relieved of his managerial duties back in March.

football.london reported back in March that while former Tottenham managing director of football Fabio Paratici had spoken to the England captain's camp on a couple of occasions regarding plans to sit down to discuss a new deal in the near future, the club have as of yet not entered into any formal discussions over a new contract for their prolific star.

The 29-year-old has also consistently made it clear that his main aim has been to win silverware with the north Londoners, who are yet to lift a trophy since their League Cup success 15 years ago. Kane's Spurs teammate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg weighed in on the frontman's future in N17, telling the club that they need to ensure everything is flawless around their all-time top goalscorer.

"[This latest record] is amazing, but what is there for me to say [about him] that people do not know already, it is maybe difficult, but honestly, it is nice to have him around and he is one of those players who will be in the (record) books, in the history for a very long time," said Hojbjerg last month.

"That we have him around, I think it is important also for Harry to understand he has a big responsibility and also I think the club has a responsibility to make sure the scenario for him is the best possible."

The Danish midfielder added: "I think it is important that everyone understands they have responsibility. For me to play football without responsibility, personally, I find odd, but I also understand this is in some players more than others.

"I think in good teams, the best teams have everyone taking the responsibility in their role."
