Tottenham stance on Nottingham Forest star emerges ahead of summer transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur retain an interest in Nottingham Forest star Djed Spence. But it’s said they could turn their attention elsewhere come the summer.

The defender has been in stunning form for the Reds this season, during his loan spell from Middlesbrough. And he has helped propel Steve Cooper’s side up the Championship table, into promotion contention as the final games draw into view.

He has also caught the eye of a string of potential suitors with his standout performances, with the end of the campaign likely to see a race to secure his signature. Talk of a £20m price tag has been mooted ahead of the transfer window.

Spurs are among a long list of sides to have already been linked. According to our sister site Football London, the Premier League outfit still “like” Spence, because he “ticks the homegrown box and is a talented young defender with plenty of attacking potential”.

However, it is said Torino’s Stephane Singo could be an option for the club as they look to strengthen at right wing-back. The report adds managing director of football Fabio Paratici “likes a loan with an option to buy”, and is likely to target “plenty” of those particular deals in the summer.

It has previously been reported that Paratici made the trip to the City Ground in February for Forest’s FA Cup triumph over Leicester City to watch both Spence and Brennan Johnson. Along with Tottenham, the former has also been linked with Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Leeds United, Brentford, Southampton, Roma, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig.

Johnson also has plenty of top-flight admirers. Brentford did their best to try to sign him in January, while Spurs, Everton, West Ham United, Burnley, Leeds United, Leicester City, Barnsley, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Brighton have previously been credited with an interest in the Wales international.
