Tottenham sign Timo Werner on fresh loan deal with new purchase clause

Tottenham have re-signed Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig.

The German forward initially arrived in January and scored twice in 15 appearances, providing three assists, before his season ended prematurely due to a hamstring injury.

Spurs had been linked with a fresh move for Werner and held a £14.5million purchase option as part of his original loan stay.

However, they have instead signed the 28-year-old on fresh loan terms.

Werner will return to north London for next season on a 12-month deal which holds a new £8.5m option to make the transfer permanent.

“Happy to be at Spurs next year!” wrote the player on Instagram. “Looking forward to see you all in the stadium for an incredible season.”

The move is Tottenham’s second ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, the club having already landed Swedish talent Lucas Bergvall from Djurgardens in a signing announced in February ahead of the teenager’s switch next month.

Earlier on Tuesday, Spurs signed reserve goalkeeper Brandon Austin up to a new five-year contract ahead of his deal expiring this summer.
