Tottenham sent Raphinha transfer message as Liverpool close in on Luis Diaz signing

Some Tottenham supporters have told the club to go out and buy Raphinha, with Luis Diaz now looking set to move to Liverpool.

Earlier in the week, Spurs looked to be in pole position to land the 25-year-old's signature, with Antonio Conte looking to add depth to his attacking options.

However, Liverpool are said to be long-term admirers of the Colombia international, and according to Goal, the Reds are close to completing the signing of the winger.

This represents another blow for Tottenham, with the news from Thursday that Adama Traore looks set to snub Spurs and move to Barcelona instead.

It's safe to say Tottenham supporters are not too happy on social media. Some of them have demanded the club to go out and sign Leeds United winger Raphinha with the money that was supposed to go on Diaz.

Raphinha has been in fine form ever since he made the switch to the Premier League from Rennes in October 2020 and has been linked with a host of clubs as a result, including Tottenham and Liverpool.

However, the Brazil international, when speaking in November of last year, distanced himself from rumours linking him with a move away from Elland Road by stating how much he is enjoying his football.

Asked whether it’s possible to reach his personal goals at Leeds, Raphinha told BBC Radio Leeds: "Without a doubt. When you bring together players with a real, strong, winning desire together with the manager, the coaching staff, fans who love the club, you create a wonderful atmosphere in the stadium and at the training ground.

"Marcelo Bielsa demands a lot of us. We know that. We’re used to it. We listen to him. He helps us develop and evolve as players, as professionals.

"We listen to him and we play his style of football. That’s the football that has put us, that has given us attention in the Premier League, made us stand out in the Premier League and made Leeds a Premier League team."
