Tottenham sack manager Rehanne Skinner after nine-game losing run

Tottenham have sacked manager Rehanne Skinner following a nine-game losing run in the Women's Super League.

Spurs made a bright start to the campaign, winning three of their first five games, however they have failed to pick up a single point since their 8-0 rout of Brighton in October. Their latest defeat came against Liverpool on Sunday, with Emma Koivisto and Missy Bo Kearns on target for the hosts at Prenton Park after Rosella Ayane had fired Tottenham into an early lead.

The result means Spurs remain 10th in the WSL, just two places and two points above the drop zone ahead of a crunch clash with bottom-of-the-table Leicester on Wednesday. And the club have now confirmed Skinner has been relieved of her duties as Head Coach.

The 43-year-old joined the club in November 2020, following a spell as Assistant Head Coach of the England national team. She oversaw Spurs' eighth-place finish in the Women’s Super League in 2020/21, before guiding the club to fifth – their highest ever placing in the WSL – along with a spot in the semi-finals of the Continental League Cup in 2021/22.

In a statement on Monday, Andy Rogers, Managing Director of Tottenham Hotspur Women, said: “Since joining us in 2020, Rehanne has played an integral role in our development in the women’s game, both on and off the field. She has carried out her duties with the utmost professionalism and attention to detail, and we should like to thank her for everything she has done for us over the course of her tenure.”

Assistant Head Coach Vicky Jepson will take the team for Wednesday's meeting with the Foxes at Brisbane Road.
