Tottenham Hotspur are keen to sign Leeds United winger Daniel James as a replacement for the outgoing Bryan Gil. That is according to Mail Online, who claim that Gil is all but set for a loan switch to Valencia, however Spurs would like to ensure there is someone ready to come in before he leaves.
Spurs are looking to do a loan deal for James that includes a £20 million option to buy next summer, while Everton are also said to be interested in the Welshman. That said, according to the Daily Mirror, Leeds will reject any interest for James at this late stage of the window.
They say Jesse Marsch sees the 24-year-old as an important part of his plans as he looks to hand him more opportunities in his more favoured wide role. James spent much of last season playing out of position as a number nine, but has already started the last two matches as a right winger.

Marsch spoke on the role he wants James to play this year back in pre-season during the tour of Australia. He said: “We were forced to play Dan at striker a lot last year and we know that’s not his best position.
“He likes to play more on the left. I’ve been challenging him to play a little bit more on the right, so he can set himself up on his right foot and make some final plays.”
